Focusing on profound themes, the audience has an opportunity to enhance awareness and understanding, utilizing the powerful medium of film. Sample Program

Compare and Contrast: Afro-Brazilians and African-American in Film and Television

Examines the history of film in its representation of Afrro-Brazilians and African-Americans, the existence of stereotypes, and mass medias role in shaping of youth identity. Sessions include screenings of Cinema Nosso original documentary Vida Nova Com Favela and episodes of the television series City of Men, followed by discussion and Q & A.
